Rattled by Worship
Have you ever heard a worship song and been so struck by it that you keep hitting repeat? Each time you play the song it's like the words just sink deeper and deeper into your heart, lifting your spirit in an indescribable way!
Much to my housemates' dismay I have found one of these songs. One day while working I was listening to the Worship @ Home playlist, (created by the wonderful Ben Dear!), and the song RATTLE! by Elevation Worship came on. At first I was more focused on the work in front of me but when the bridge hit I was captivated by the words sung like a war cry:
My God is able to save and deliver and heal
And restore anything that He wants to
Just ask the man who was thrown
On the bones of Elisha
If there's anything that He can't do
Just ask the stone that was rolled
At the tomb in the garden
What happens when God says to move...
The first verses are referencing 2 Kings 13:21, where Israelites in the middle of a burial must suddenly run from the threat of raiders. Out of fear and necessity they threw the dead man into the prophet Elisha's tomb, but when this man fell upon Elisha's bones he jumped to his feet- completely alive!
The latter verses reference the supernatural moving of the stone that sealed Jesus' tomb. As the Gospels and this song tell us, God told the massive stone to move and it did- releasing the Risen Christ into the world!
You and I will have days where instead of pausing to meet with God we throw ourselves and our prayers haphazardly to Him, letting circumstances or fear drive us away from personal moments. And we will have days where His presence and promises feel sealed off. Like our mistakes, struggles, or His silence have rolled between us, leaving us to wonder if we will ever encounter Him like we used to.
But our God can restore anything He wants to, and when He says 'move' nothing can stand still!
Let's take our tired bones and remember the God who can bring life in an instant. All we need to do is throw ourselves into Him and we will find ourselves restored and revived!
Let's speak to the stones rolled into our lives, not to shove them away on our own strength, but to call upon the Almighty God to say 'move!'
God wants us to know there is life and restoration for us today. All we need to do is come to Him and ask, and we will find ourselves declaring with excitement the rest of this song:
I feel Him moving it now
I feel Him doing it now
I feel Him doing it now
Do it now, do it now!
This song is my prayer for you and I this week. Listen and sit with it, pray into it, and join me in declaring 'I feel Him doing it now!'
