The New You

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 

A few weeks ago I visited Canterbury with my family for the first time. Whilst we were at the Cathedral my daughter Selah who’s four kept calling it a castle. I tried explaining to her it was actually a church but her mind was already made up. As we walked inside the Cathedral she took on a new persona, she told me she was now the Queen! So, at every grand hallway she held her dress and walked as elegantly as she could – painfully slowly, but adorable! However, when we left, thankfully, Selah returned to her usual self.

Watching Selah reminded me that in Christ we assume a new identity and role too. We are God’s precious, chosen, royal, priestly, people! And we are called to live for Him, in His light! The only difference is we do not ever need to leave Him and return back to our old ways and selves! What a joy it is for us to remain new forever!
