Powerful Me or Powerful Gospel?
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’”
Romans 1:16-17
I’m so thankful for the Gospel. It has powerfully transformed my life and continues to guide me forward in righteousness as I live by faith. Yet, this scripture challenged me recently, that when I share the gospel, a lot of the time, I’m reliant on my own words, my repackaged version and my personality to get it across. The emphasis is on my input rather than the Gospel itself. I trust in my own power too much…
The Gospel is the power of God! What can be more powerful than that?! It’s a humbling reminder that I can just speak the truth, and trust God with what he wants to do in other people’s heart. Let’s not be ashamed of the Gospel, but share it with faith!
